A Druze soldier in a combat unit refused to stand during the siren on Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day and aroused the wrath of his comrades and commanders, according to military correspondent Carmela Menashe.

The soldiers were in field training and when the siren sounded he stepped aside and sat down. The Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson said, "The soldier did not comply with orders that were known to his commanders. Understanding the situation and with sensitivity to the soldier's situation and motives, the commander in the field decided to resolve the incident in a conversation with the soldier."
