Former United States ambassadors to Israel Dan Shapiro and Martin Indyk have raised questions about the conference announced on Sunday for the end of June, when the economic part of the US peace plan for Israel and the Palestinian Authority will be revealed. Among other things, Shapiro asked if any invitees are being briefed on the political plan and wiill those who are not briefed on the political plan show up? Indyk asked, "What if no Palestinians, even businessmen, attend? Why weren’t major donors consulted before announcing it?"

Writing on Twitter, Shapiro said, Monday, "The problem generating enthusiasm around this effort is immense. Almost no one in the region or internationally is looking for a US Middle East peace plan or has faith in Trump to produce a good one. And few will invest without knowing what the political plan is, and if they can support it."
