Eric Garcetti, the mayor of Los Angeles who appears to be a future Democratic presidential candidate, estimated in an interview with Galei Tzahal that the Trump government's peace plan has little chance of success.
"In order to be credible mediators, we need trust, and the Palestinians do not trust the Trump administration," said Garcetti.
"Perhaps a Democrat president is more suited to bridging the nations. The relations between Israel and the United States can not be owned solely by the Republicans,"Garcetti said. The interview was held while visiting Israel last week on behalf of AJC.
