IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi informed the commander of the former Kirya base, Yigal Ben Ami, that he had rejected a request for leniency.
The chief of staff's assistant, Col. Papo, wrote to Ben Ami: "In view of the severity of the acts, the chief of staff rejected your request."
As noted, the military court sentenced Ben Ami to 100 days of "labor" in a plea bargain for breach of trust, use of military property for non-military purposes, and inappropriate behavior. Ben Ami was also fined NIS 22,000 and demoted to the rank of major, in addition to being forced into retirement.
