South Korea's presidential office said it is keeping a close eye on the current security situation, following the launch of at least one unidentified projectile on Thursday afternoon, according to the Yonhap news agency.
South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said the launch was from the area of a base for Nodong medium-range missiles, which are capable of striking Japan. The latest launches coincided with a visit to Seoul by United States special representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun, and annual trilateral defense talks between South Korea, the US and Japan.
