For the first time since the establishment of Jewish communities in Samaria, Independence Day celebrations took place last night at the Sebastia railway station, drawing hundreds of people from Shavei Shomron and the rest of the country.
The celebration was planned after it was found that the Palestinian Authority had set a goal of taking control of the land around the site through illegal construction. The station became a symbol of the settlement enterprise, because after eight times the settlers tried to settle Samaria, they reached an agreement with Shim'on Peres to establish the first Jewish community in Samaria in what is now called Kedumim.
