Holocaust survivor Ida Braunstein, 78, from Kfar Sava, who survived the Holocaust as a child in Ukraine, activated the memorial siren for Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembance Day, that was heard all over the country, together with her granddaughter, Sergeant Aya Braunstein, who serves as an alarm operator in the Israel Defense Forces' Homefront Command.

Ida Braunstein called the activation of the siren "an historic moment, a moment of victory". Aya Braunstein added, "As long as I can remember, Holocaust Remembrance Day has always been a very moving day in my home, and this year, all the more so."
