The Chief Justice of the Rabbinical Supreme Court, Chief Rabbi David Lau, welcomed the Magistrate's Court's ruling which issued a criminal sentence to Meir Gurodetsky, who has refused to grant a get to his wife, for many years.
"The precedent-setting ruling of the court is a bright spot in the uncompromising struggle of the Rabbinical Courts against the phenomenon of refusal to give a divorce," said Rabbi Lau, "I welcome the Court's clear statement that a person who refuses to give liberty to another person will be deprived of his personal freedom as well.
