The Journalism Council is demanding that the Personnel Security Unit cease its " forcible evacuation of photographers holding a journalist card."
The demand came after "the Marker" photographer, Ilan Asayag, was brought down and removed as he waited for Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and other dignitaries to attend the birthday party of public relations person Rani Rahav in Savyon. A statement by the council said, "A photographer who is waiting at the opening of an event standing in a public space near the host is not a passerby suspected of aggressive intentions. He's a journalist doing his work on behalf of the public. The security force should also respect this."
