Chief of General Aviv Kochavi of the Israel Defense Forces decided on Monday to appoint Gil Messing as IDF Spokesperson.
The appointment was approved by Prime Minister and Defense Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Messing will succeed Brigadier General Ronen Manelis, who has been in charge for the past two years, in the coming months. During his IDF career, Messing represented the Spokesperson's Office under Kochavi in the Gaza area. Since leaving the service, Messing has been a media advisor to politicians and companies.
