Outgoing Druze Knesset member Ayoub Kara (Likud) went to the tomb of biblical Jethro (Yitro in Hebrew, Shuaib in Arabic) on Thursday to take part in the traditional observance of the Druze community, welcoming other particpants and relaying a greeting from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Mowafaq Tarif, "despite the harsh statements against the participation of politicians".
The communications minister wrote on Twitter, "We will not allow a marginal minority to harm the relations between the Druze and the State of Israel. As I have promised, I will do everything to establish the constitutional status of the community in a new law that we have prepared in the government."
