Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev has informed Dr. Hodaya Uliel that she will bear a torch at the 71st Independence Day ceremony of the State of Israel.

Uliel was born prematurely and diagnosed with cerebral palsy. While serving in the National Service at Assaf Harofeh Hospital, Oliel understood that her personal story could help others and chose to study medicine. Despite the difficulties, she completed her medical studies at the Technion and is currently beginning her internship at Kaplan Hospital. She will become the first woman doctor in Israel who suffers from the malady.
