An Israel Police statement denounced an anonymous police source's claims that the appointment of Knesset members Bezalel Smotrich (United Right) or Miri Regev (Likud) as ministers would result in Jews bringing the Passover sacrifice on the Temple Mount.
"Following the rumors that various sources in the police made statements regarding the appointment of ministers, we would like to reiterate what we said last night: We are saddened by the statements made in the name of 'anonymous sources,'" the statement said. "Israel Police handles the significant tasks and challenges it is faced with, does not involve itself with the appointment of ministers, and will accept any decisions made by the political echelon."
