Colonel Shai Siman-Tov will light the Israel Defense Forces torch at the ceremony to launch Independence Day. Siman-Tov was mortally wounded as a Golani Brigade battalion commander uncovering a terror tunnel during the Protective Edge counterterror campaign in Gaza in 2014 and returned to service.
