Member of Knesset Mossi Raz of the leftist Meretz Party has called for the dismissal of Tiberias Mayor Ron Kobi following Kobi's remarks against the city's haredi-religious public and Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, who chairs the haredi Shas Party.
Kobi posted a video to Facebook in which he said the local haredim want to squeeze and milk the public coffers while blaming Deri for the city's sanitary conditions and threatening to petition the Supreme Court against him. MK Raz wrote, "A mayor who expresses himself in this way toward his residents should not continue even if he is to be credited for public transportation on the Sabbath."
