There is growing concern at the Foreign Ministry over the safety of Israelis who are going on holiday to Sinai despite the severe travel warning issued by the Counter-Terrorism Bureau of a serious threat of terror attacks against Sinai tourists, including Israelis, which included a call for all Israelis already there to leave the area immediately and return to Israel.
At the initiative of the ministry, Hebrew and Arabic publications were posted at the crossing, warning Israeli citizens not to carry objects that might entangle them with the Egyptian law enforcement authorities, such as bullets, car cameras, hovering drones and drugs (including medical cannabis). Israelis are urged to obey the instructions of the local authorities and to exercise extreme caution in order to avoid unnecessary complications in a foreign country.
