Labor Party Secretary-General Eran Hermoni met Thursday with party chairman Avi Gabbay.
After the meeting, Hermoni said, "I made it clear to Gabbay that in view of the outcome of the destructive election, he must take responsibility and resign immediately from the post of chairman of the Labor Party, as he should have on the evening [of the loss]. As secretary-general of the party, I and others for whom this party is important have a duty to say things clearly: Any other chairman who would bring such a result would resign." He concluded, "Gabbay's resignation in itself is far from bringing salvation, but without it we will not be able to begin the work of reconstruction and construction, which is expected to be Sisyphean and long-term."
