In a post on Twitter, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein (Likud) commented on the funeral of Zecharia Baumel, writing:
"37 years after he fell in battle, thousands of Israelis came to accompany Zacharia Baumel to rest in Jerusalem. His sister Asna said that now he was communing with the land for which he had sacrificed his life, for the sake of all of us. So true. What is the pain? May the memory of Zechariah be blessed and always cherished in our hearts.
