The Sephardic haredi-religious Shas party will petition the Supreme Court today against the Central Election Committee's decision not to allow it to run a campaign to write letters in a Torah scroll for supporters of the party.
Shas said the Yosef Aleichem campaign is based on the will of the Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, to add more and more voices to the movement by writing a Torah scroll for the lifting of his soul. Accusing the committee of racism, petition noted that other parties are permitted to distribute hats and shirts with a higher monetary value.
