Chairman Avi Dichter of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee is interested in the defense portfolio in the next government.

Interviewed on Radio Hadarom, the former minister of public safety and homefront defense said, "I have not concealed my desire to be a minister of defense in the State of Israel and to influence. The last 48 years of my life have been in the service of the state. I am convinced that Prime Minister Netanyahu will take into account the experience I have accumulated as head of the Shin Bet security service, as minister and in the Knesset when he forms the next government. Yes, I definitely want to help the State of Israel from the defense minister's place."
