The fishing area in the Gaza Strip has been increased to 15 nautical miles - the widest range Israel has permitted so far.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories stated that "this step is part of the civilian policy of preventing humanitarian deterioration in the Gaza Strip and of a policy that distinguishes between terror and the uninvolved population."
"The implementation of the move is contingent upon the fact that the fishermen in Gaza will respect the agreements. It will be emphasized that there will be no deviation from the ranges agreed upon, and any deviation will be handled accordingly by the security forces."
