A senior member of the Hamas linked Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades told Al-Jazeera that:
"The early self-activation of the rockets from Gaza stems from a decision by the Hamas leadership to increase the combat readiness of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades. That Israel intends to attack in Gaza before the elections "
