Education Minister Naftali Bennett has informedProfessor Mordechai Akiva Friedman that he has won the Israel Prize in the field of Jewish history.
Bennett cited Professor Friedman as being "the greatest [Cairo] Genizah researcher of our generation," adding, "Thanks to him we have learned about communities from North Africa and the Land of Israel to India. He connects the past with the present and brings us great respect."
