President Reuven Rivlin has thanked President Donald Trump of the United States "for his brave and unprecedented decision to recognize Israeli sovereignty on the Golan Heights, as well as his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel."
Rivlin added, "This is an historical amendment of unparalleled importance. The history of the Jewish people on the Golan is thousands of years old, and the Golan Heights are an inseparable part of the State of Israel, crucial to our security and to our existence as a people. I hope that further countries and leaders will follow the United States and also declare their recognition of our sovereignty on the Golan Heights.”
