In a post on Twitter former mayor of Jerusalem and Likud candidate for the Knesset, Nir Barkat praised US president Trumps call to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, writing:
"Thank you, President Trump, for the historic recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, following the transfer of the embassy to Jerusalem. The strong ties between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump and world leaders bring tremendous achievements to the State of Israel. The people of Israel know and appreciate this and therefore will choose a victory of Netanyahu and the Likud!"
