Science Minister Ofir Akunis has been invited to the White House as the guest of Kelvin Droegemeier, President Donald Trump's adviser on science, marking the first time that an Israeli science minister has been invited to the White House as part of his professional role.

The meeting is expected to coincide with the meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu next week. In addition to meeting at the White House, the science minister will hold meetings with the chief of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the head of the National Science Foundation.
