    Report: 19 billion shekels in food thrown out every year

    A report by Leket Israel published on Tuesday morning finds that the value of lost food in Israel - 2.5 million tons - is 19.7 billion shekels, almost half of which can be saved.

    The report also shows that an average family in Israel throws out 3,200 shekels worth of food a year into the garbage, with most of the loss due to the throwing out of fruits and vegetables.
