The Labor Party has responded to the request of the Chairman of the Central Elections Committee to receive clarifications regarding the candidacy of retired general Tal Russo, who had a command that ended in May of 2017, too recently for him to qualify to run in the April 9th elections.

Under the law, at least three years must pass between one's leaving the military and running for office. The party said Russo was discharged from the IDF in February 2014 and returned to reserve duty as a commander at the request of then Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. It expressed confidence that he would be able to represent the citizens in the next Knesset following clarification of the matter.
