For the first time, the Israel Defense Forces are recognizing Purim as a holiday and inducting soldiers during the observance.
Until now, the only ones to be exempted were hesder yeshiva students whom the IDF consistently recruited before or after Purim, but not during the holiday because Purim is considered a work day in the Israeli economy.
