Chairman Avi Dichter of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee has told the Jerusalem Conference of the B'Sheva newspaper that a major military operation is needed in Gaza.

Recalling 2002's Defensive Shield campaign in Judea and Samaria, the former head of the Shabak Israel Security Agency said, "I see no alternative but to the possibility of launching Operation Defensive Shield in Gaza, and I believe that the operation will end with 20,000 detained terrorists, 10,000 dead terrorists and 10,000 more who will flee to Egypt and the Arab countries."
