Deputy Mayor Hagit Moshe of Jerusalem is calling on Mayor Moshe Lion to revoke the budgets from the Jerusalem Cinemateque in light of the Zochrot organization's Nakba Film Festival.
Nakba is the Arabic word for catastrophe used by hostile Arabs to describe the creation of the modern Jewish state. In the festival that is currently taking place, films about the Nakba and the "refugees" are being screened, and according to the cinematheque's explanation, the program examines the limits of freedom of expression and the question of "cultural loyalty" around the world.
