A senior figure in the Likud Party has told Arutz Sheva that in light of the advanced legal process in the cases involving Prime Minister and Party Chairman Binyamin Netanyahu, elections for chairman will be held a year and a half from now.
As a result, the senior official estimated, the State of Israel may find itself in another general election in another two years. Netanyahu's term is until 2023. According to the Likud constitution, the deadline for elections is six months earlier.
