Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon took part in an evening of solidarity with the community of Sheikh Israel, whose synagogue was vandalized this week in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood of the capital.

"The long history of our people teaches us time and time again that lesson, and that the state of mutual responsibility, love of others and unity of the nation are the critical questions on which our national strength depends, "said the mayor.

"True unity is the decision to be united despite the differences between us, not the desire of everyone to erase the beliefs and culture of the other, on the contrary, in order to give him a place of freedom and respect," Leon added.
