The Chief Rabbis of Jerusalem have decided to hold a public fast this Monday, on the eve of Rosh Chodesh Adar 1, following the desecration discovered on Tuesday morning at the Siah Yisrael synagogue in the Kiryat Hayovel neighborhood.

The entire community is asked to take part in the fast according to one's ability, by means of a full fast for the whole day, or at least a fast until the hour of the afternoon prayers, when fast-day prayers and scriptural readings will be added. For those who find it difficult to fast, they should take on a vow of silence regarding secular matters.
