Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Tuesday with the special envoy of Russian President for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Varshinin.
The meeting, which was held at the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem, was attended by National Security Advisor Meir Ben-Shabat and Head of the IDF Operations Branch, Major General Aharon Haliva.
The Israeli and Russian participants discussed Iran and the situation in Syria, as well as strengthening the security coordination mechanism between the armies to prevent friction.
President Putin's envoy to Syria and Deputy Foreign Minister reiterated Russia's commitment to Israel's national security.
