Retired brigadier general Gal Hirsch is launching his Magen party's campaign for Knesset Monday evening.
Hirsch said, "With all my security and social experience, I aspire to serve in the next government in the important role of the Minister of Public Security, because this is a social role of the highest order." Hirsch's nomination to be police chief - a position under the portfolio he seeks - was withdrawn last fall for a number of reasons, although Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu felt he was right for the job.
