The official value of the shekel declined an average of .201 percent on Monday against most of the featured currencies on the Bank of Israel's foreign-exchange list.
The United States dollar was fixed at NIS 3.68, down .136 percent from Friday, while the Euro advanced .652 percent to 4.2017 shekels and the pound sterling was set at 4.8372 shekels, up .378 percent. After hitting a two-year high against the dollar on Sunday, the Egyptian pound's strengthening against the shekel was 1.311 percent, with the currency being worth NIS .2087. A banking expert told the Egypt Independent that reform measures taken by the government contributed to attracting nearly one billion dollars in the form of deposits and investments in the Egyptian capital markets.
