The leader of the Democratic majority in the US House of Representatives, Steny Hoyer, has joined the call to "allow Israel to continue to control the Golan Heights," the Israel Hayom newspaper reports.
The Senate has been presented with a legislative initiative by Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Tom Cotton to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights. Three weeks ago, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu raised the issue in a statement to the media with US National Security Adviser John Bolton.
