Minister Ze'ev Elkin has responded to a report that each year the PA transfers hundreds of millions of shekels to terrorists and their families by saying, "Already when I was deputy foreign minister, I saw to it that at every meeting with foreign ministers in the State of Israel they would be presented with these figures which were just published."
Elkin asked, "Does someone think that one who is ready to pay the salary of a minister, which is the highest in the PA, to someone who murders Israelis is really planning to make peace with the State of Israel?" Referring to PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, he concluded, "Abu-Mazen is not the solution, Abu Mazen is the problem."
