President Reuven Rivlin said, Tuesday, "I think the respect for the rule of law has been declining recently."

Speaking at a Public Safety Ministry ceremony for outstanding contributions, Rivlin explained, "It has been perceived as irritating and restrictive, but there is a serious mistake in understanding its importance. Law enforcement is not a pleasant job. Sometimes it means using force against the citizens of the state, not against a foreign enemy. It is often an impossible situation. It is a difficult and complex task for which you are responsible."
