The new Ramon International Airport near Eilat will now also be named for the late Rona Ramon, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
Until a recent decision by the Airports Authority, it had been named in memory of her husband, Ilan, who perished in the space shuttle Columbia disaster on February 1, 2003, and her son Assaf, who died in an Israel Air Force training accident on September 13, 2009. Rona died of cancer last December 17th.
