Chairman Avi Nissenkorn of the Histadrut Labor Federation has announced that he intends to announce a labor dispute at the Cellcom cellular telephone service, in response to the company's intention to fire hundreds of workers.
Nissenkorn said, "The Histadrut fully backs the [workers'] committee and will act by all means at its disposal in order to protect the status and job security of the workers."
