A nine-judge panel of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Esther Hayut, accepted the state's request Sunday and allowed the postponement of legislation regulating induction into the Israel Defense Forces until July 28.

The ruling came in petitions by the Yesh Atid Party, the Movement for Equal Burden and the Movement for Quality Government against the extension of the law. The court is seeking new legislation to replace legislation it struck down, which gives extensive exemptions to draft-age yeshiva students.
