Retired general Uzi Dayan, who is running in the Likud primaries for Knesset, said on Sunday, "Israel, headed by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, is sending a sharp and clear message to the Iranians and the Syrians which is important to resonate throughout the Middle East, and especially with our neighbors from the north and Iran, that even when the US withdraws its forces from Syria, even when the Israeli prime minister is on an important and fruitful diplomatic mission in Chad, and even when a new chief of staff is serving in Israel, the State of Israel continues to fight resolutely and effectively against terrorism in all its forms and to protect its residents."
Dayan also said, "Israel, as a democratic state, is holding the election campaign as if there is no terror and fighting terror as if there is no election campaign."
