The Ministry of Defense has purchased about 10 tons of dried fruit and nuts for the Israel Defense Forces as part of a tradition going back to the days when Israeli produce was sent abroad to be eaten on Tu B'Shvat.
This year's purchase is rich and varied, and includes two tons of raisins, a ton of peanuts, 1,500 kilograms of apricots, 1,000 kg of banana chips and 500 kg each of cranberries, almonds and walnuts.
