Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu and the President of Chad Idriss Deby announced today in N'Djamena, the capital of Chad, the renewal of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"This is a historic visit that came after another historic visit - your visit to Israel two months ago, and I am here to formally re-establish diplomatic relations, Chad is a very important country in itself and very important to Israel," Netanyahu said.
"The future of Africa depends on the future of the Sahel [region south of the Sahara coastline -ed], and what happens here can affect the whole world, we understand that you understand that, we have to ensure that vital allies understand this, and therefore we share in the effort to shape a future of security and prosperity for both our countries, For Africa, and beyond. "
