Egyptian President Abdel Fatah As-Sisi has forbidden senior government officials from leaving the country without his approval, according to the Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation.
The procedure is intended to reduce government expenditure and streamline supervision of public funds. It was also reported that the president's opponents were criticizing the move, as it also included Sheikh Ahmed At-Taib, head of the Al-Azhar Institute.
