Judicial Selection Committee member MK Robert Ilatov (Yisrael Beyteinu) said following the disclosure of the sexual-favors-in-exchange-for-judicial-appointments affair and the intention to summon members of the committee to give testimony: "The Judicial Selection Committee is the holiest of Israeli society. From the first day I was elected to the committee, I did a lot to break the glass ceiling for entire masses who felt excluded from the judicial system.
"I'm proud to say that during my tenure, female judges of the Ethiopian community were appointed for the first time in the State of Israel to serve as judges in various courts and a Russian-speaking judge to serve as Supreme Court Justice. It's a privilege and a tremendous mission to serve on the Judicial Selection Committee, and we, the members of the Committee, have the highest moral duty to keep it clean of any stain," he added.
