There is fear of severe security breaches in airlines' information systems, Ido Keinan says in a CyberServer podcast.

The podcast cited in Globes tells the story of an innocent El Al passenger who only accidentally found out that a hacker broke into his account after he ordered a flight and changed his meals to "vegan glatt vegetarian dishes."

El Al responded: "El Al received a request from a customer of the company specializing in the cyber field, and there is a concern about faulty information security. The customer stated he did not intend to use the information he was exposed to, and that the purpose of the request was to examine the flaw in order to correct it. The company took the report in all seriousness and performed immediate inspections, after which it approached the senior ranks of the system supplier, who immediately corrected the defect in a short time.

"It is noted that this is a system with a high level of security that is used by many airlines around the world. El Al attaches great importance to securing information and protecting its databases and invests considerable resources in the field."
