The Tel Aviv District Court today convicted Yehiel Isakov, 39, of Netanya, of theft by an employee and interfering with computer material. The court also sentenced the defendant to five years in prison, a fine of NIS 100,000, and forfeiture of all his computers and information. Isakov was convicted as part of a plea bargain.
According to the amended indictment, Isakov committed the offenses while working for NSO Group Technologies, an Israeli technology firm focused on cyber intelligence. NSO develops tools and software that enable cyber attacks on mobile phones and computers, such as penetration of mobile telephones and computers without the users' knowledge.
The company markets products for security forces in Israel and around the world.
